User research at Google: focus on the user and all else will follow

The UKUPA is proud to invite Jens Riegelsberger from Google London and Molly Stevens from Google NYC to come and talk to us about Google's approach to developing for their users.

In their talk, Jens and Molly will give an informal overview on the user research team at Google: who they are and how they work.

They will discuss four aspects that they believe, in combination, make Google a unique place to be a user researcher:

(1) a bottom-up 'ideas' culture

(2) a data-driven engineering approach

(3) a fast, highly iterative web development cycle

(4) a global product development perspective.

Each aspect leads to challenges and opportunities for the research team that they will illustrate using case studies.

This promises to be a really interesting talk and an opportunity to see the inner machinations of what is arguable one of today's biggest technology brands.

After their talk, Jens and Molly will be available for a brief Q&A.
